Front cover practice photoshoot



 

 

 

 



We took photos of each other wearing different clothing for different genres of music for example in our photshoot we did the music genres Rock, Pop and Gangsta rap.

 

 





 

 

 

On my front cover I have 6 cover stories to do with different bands with different situations. The first cover story is to do with my double page spread and it is called 'Evolution of a star'. Because my double page spread is all about the rise of a new rock star and how they have gotten to the top. My other cover stories are all with different rock bands with different stories involving them. My other cover stories are called 'Shinedown revealing interview'. 'Skillet release a monster of an album'. 'Rise Against cancer'.'Linkin Park is it the end' and 'Breaking Benjamin left in the cold'. In the cover stories they are all different stories and different bands but I tried to use the names of songs in them so that if someone recognises the band and the song they will realise that there is a little joke in the headlines.

We looked at images of some music artists and evaluated wheather they would be good for magazine front covers or not and explain what makes them a good magazine cover photo and what doesn't make them a good magazine cover.

This image wouldn’t be good because the image is too big to fit on the cover of the magazine and you would have to crop out one of the band members to fit it on. However the background is quite good because you are able to use text on the background and the image is quite good.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This image would be good to use on the front of a magazine because it can fit on the front cover of a magazine without you cropping out a band member and you can fit text in the gaps between and on the band members without covering up their faces.

 

 

 

 

 

Cover stories
I think that cover stories are really important becasue they are what intise the reader to read further in to the magazine. So if you have an interesting cover story headline then the reader will be more interested in buying your magazine. But also your cover stories will have to be about someone famous so that people know who they are cause people aren't going to read an article on someone they've never heard of. Whereas if you do it about a celebrity or a household name then people will take more notice. For example if you write a cover story about a huge celebrity like George Clooney or someone like that people will much rather read that then something about a not very well known celebrity like George Eads.
